Home Learning
Home learning plays a vital role in reinforcing the learning that takes place in the classroom. It gives children the opportunity to practice and apply new skills, helping them build confidence and independence. At our school, we use platforms like Century to provide tailored tasks that support individual progress. Teachers carefully set homework on this platform to ensure that every child can consolidate their understanding at home. Completing home learning regularly helps children develop essential habits such as responsibility, time management, and perseverance. Reading is another key part of home learning, and we want children to read daily and be listened to by an adult, as this greatly improves vocabulary and comprehension. When parents engage in listening to their child read, it creates a positive learning environment and strengthens the home-school partnership. Home learning also prepares children for future learning by encouraging them to review and extend their knowledge beyond the classroom. Consistent effort with homework leads to better academic outcomes and builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning. By valuing home learning, we work together to support every child’s success.
Below you will find links to the websites that can be used to support home learning.
CENTURY is our main home learning platform where teachers set online activities matched to children’s current learning (Nuggets). Pupils complete short lessons and tasks which help to reinforce and develop skills taught in school.
